‘Tis the season for binge-watching old shows Netflix as you blissfully ignore your quickly-approaching finals & the inevitable doom of your GPA… ok, let’s not get too dramatic here. But really, if you’re in the mood to get way too involved in the lives of fictional characters on a terribly cheesy show, Gossip Girl is the show of choice this season.
Reasons to love Gossip Girl:
Flashback to 2007 – The Way I Are by Timbaland is one of the first songs you hear. Bet you forgot about that goodness. Rihanna, Gym Class Heroes, Amy Winehouse… the list goes on. This show will have you reminiscing about the best and worst parts of the mid-2000s.
Dan + Serena + Nate + Blair + Chuck + Little J + Vanessa + who knows who else… This show takes your classic love triangle and turns it into a giant, confusing web. But you’ll get so involved that you’ll know every detail.
Everything just gets juicier when it's all being live posted on Gossip Girl's website...
She’s like yik yak combined with those snapchat screenshots you didn’t want anyone to see.
And the fact that they’re all using flip phones to email said pictures is both hilarious and impressive.
Even the sleaziest, most conniving people on this show (Chuck) have their shining moments of wholesome love for their friends and family (Chuck). You quickly come to love, or love to hate, or hate to love, all of them. Especially Chuck.
But most importantly, THE FASHION!
Who knows what their uniform is actually supposed to be (seems like Dan’s the only one who ever comes close to looking like a normal private school kid), but I’m sure glad that none of them care about the dress code one bit. Gossip Girl will take you on a journey from some sexy private school rule-breaking…
...To the most questionable, frumpy, overloaded styles a high school junior could ever wear...
...To the style evolution of Chuck Bass...
I have no words for this basketball outfit.
Also, apparently there are no clear pictures of this fabulous red onesie anywhere on the internet… nevertheless, it was a fabulous red onesie.
We’re getting better... I can’t decide if I like the scarf + greasy hair + sinister glare combination or the argyle on argyle better.
Aaaaand here is the Chuck Bass we know and love. Whatta hunk.
...To a peek into the life of an aspiring, angsty, (fictional) young fashion designer...
… To some of the greatest outfits on television.
Seriously, some of this stuff is downright iconic.
Until next time…
You know you love me,
