While Malibu beaches are foggy and chilly almost year-round (Point Dume is still great for rocky exploring during these times, but pack layers and blankets), the occasional heat wave burns off all the clouds and makes them ~almost~ hot! It's a welcome change for Southern kids used to warm, swimmable beach waters.

Just a bit farther down the road from the slightly more trafficked Zuma Beach, Point Dume has a beautiful viewpoint and coastline path if you hike upward and a great little uncrowded cove if you hike over some big black rocks at the bottom of the cliff... so yes, this does mean both spots involve light exercise. Wear some good shoes and bring some water and snacks if you go and you're easily and dramatically exhausted like me.

On this particular trip to Point Dume, I sported one of my first ever purchases from my now-favorite store in all of LA and maybe the world, Midland. The owners, Paige and Kelly, are two of the kindest and most stylish people I've ever met and they put a lot of thought into carefully selecting beautiful and fairly-made pieces like this Kkibo top for the shop. After coming across their amazing Instagram and then stepping into their bright, sweet-smelling store (the scent is like nothing else), I fell in love. And now I'm part of the shop team! It's a joy. If you're ever in the Culver City neighborhood of LA, it's a must-see.
