Boho babes & disco divas rejoice: the seventies are here to stay!
(Well, for this season at least)
We’ve been taking a lot of social cues from this decade recently, with Woodstock-style festivals becoming a summer staple & the revamp of many important social liberation movements.
Designers like have been following suit with their spring/summer 15 and even pre-fall collections. The seventies trend was seen at shows like Naeem Khan, Tom Ford, Balmain, and Chloé - one of my faves.
Everyone is feeling the love – from high fashion to Zara to Freja Beha Erichsen, Vogue UK’s cover beauty last month.
Also relevant: Fleetwood Mac is still on tour (feel free to buy me tickets for a Valentine's Day present). And everyone loves Stevie Nicks, the original gothic princess, just as much as they ever did <3
Here's an inspiration Spotify playlist that my good friend > DJ Dump$ter Katz < made for me so that I remember ABBA & Fleetwood weren't the only greats that came out of the 70s. (But really...no one can compare)
So, tuck your skinny jeans away and think: wide leg and/or flared pants, jumpsuits and wrap dresses, kimonos, plunging necklines, bohemian lace and florals, paisley and patchwork, floppy hats, fringed bags and jackets, and fabulously unkempt hair. Artsy body decorations from face painting to hand painting to body jewelry and flash tats. Or real tats. They’re cool too.
